LED Lights

Before going any further, let us first get to know what is meant by LED. LED is the short form of ‘Light-emitting diode’. Most of us are not aware of the fact that this technology is not new to us as it was being used in televisions, digital clocks, computers and remote controls. With the advancement, now LED lights are being used for domestic purposes. You must have heard people talking that these LEDs has revolutionized the light industry, but at the same time, you must be thinking that what exactly these are. What are the benefits they have as compared to the usual types of lighting? When you go through this article, you will surely be enlightened about the LEDs. Let us discuss the benefits of these LEDs –

LEDs are durable – The normal duration of a glowing bulb is estimated at around thousand hours. The reason behind this is that their fragile strand burn out at a faster pace. This leads to the frequent changing of the bulbs in a year and it is certainly a costly affair. These LED bulbs don’t have to be reliant on these filaments and this is the reason they run for longer duration. These lights can easily go for around thirty to fifty thousand hours. And most importantly, these LED lights require to be changed only once in many years.

LEDs save energy – One of the major disadvantages of the usual lighting is that they use lot of energy and all this used energy gets wasted. Only ten percent of the standard light bulbs’ energy is transformed into helpful light and the rest is just wasted heat. The main behind this is the way they are designed and the usage of filaments. There is no such problem in LEDs, because they convert ninety percent of the total energy into light. This means that they make use of less energy and at the same time provide more light. You will be surprised to know that it only needs four watts of energy to achieve sixty watts of light.
